Plain-language summary: Kinsbursky Bros. Supply, Inc. d/b/a KBI Recycling is committed to making our websites accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We are actively working to meet the WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standard. If you encounter any barrier on our websites, please contact us — we will work to resolve it promptly.

1  —  Our commitment to accessibility

Kinsbursky Bros. Supply, Inc. d/b/a KBI Recycling ("KBI," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to ensuring that our websites are accessible to all visitors, including individuals with disabilities. We believe that everyone should have equal access to information about our services, regardless of ability or the technology they use to access the web.

Accessibility is not only the right thing to do — it is also required under applicable law. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and California's Unruh Civil Rights Act prohibit discrimination against individuals with disabilities, and courts and regulators have increasingly applied these requirements to commercial websites. We take these obligations seriously.

We are committed to continually improving the accessibility of our digital properties and to promptly addressing barriers when they are identified.

2  —  Scope

This Accessibility Statement applies to all websites operated by KBI, including:

  • www.kbirecycling.com — our main corporate website

  • batteries.kbirecycling.com — our battery recycling services website

  • cats.kbirecycling.com — our catalytic converter recycling website, including the KBI Cat App access request portal

This statement does not apply to third-party websites linked from our pages, including the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, IPMI, or ARA, which are governed by their own accessibility policies. We are not responsible for the accessibility of those third-party platforms.

3  —  Conformance standard

Our target accessibility standard is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the widely recognized benchmark for web accessibility compliance and the standard referenced by the ADA and California's Unruh Civil Rights Act in the context of website accessibility.

WCAG 2.1 Level AA is organized around four core principles. Accessible web content must be:

  • Perceivable - Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive — including through screen readers, captions, and sufficient color contrast.

  • Operable - User interface components and navigation must be operable — including full keyboard accessibility and avoidance of content that could cause seizures.

  • Understandable - Information and the operation of the interface must be understandable — including readable text, predictable navigation, and input assistance.

  • Robust - Content must be robust enough to be reliably interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including current and future assistive technologies.

4  —  Current accessibility status

Our websites are built on the Wix website platform. Wix has made significant investments in accessibility infrastructure and provides built-in tools to support WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. However, full conformance depends on how each individual site is configured and what content is added by the site owner.

We are currently in the process of conducting a full accessibility audit of all three KBI websites against the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard. Our current status is partially conformant, meaning that some content may not yet fully conform to the standard. We are actively working to identify and remediate accessibility barriers.

Note: If you encounter a specific accessibility barrier on any of our websites, please do not wait for our audit to complete. Contact us directly using the information in Section 8 and we will prioritize a resolution.

5  —  Known limitations

While we work toward full WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, we are aware of the following potential limitations on our Wix-based websites:

  • Images and graphics. Some images on our websites may not yet have descriptive alternative text (alt text) that adequately describes the image content for screen reader users. We are reviewing and updating alt text across all three sites.

  • Color contrast. Certain text and design elements may not meet the minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio required for normal text under WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are identifying and correcting contrast issues.

  • Contact forms. Form fields on our contact forms may not yet have fully descriptive labels accessible to all assistive technologies. We are reviewing form accessibility across all three websites.

  • Third-party content. Embedded third-party tools, including the Located Store Locator Map, may have accessibility limitations that are outside of our direct control. We will raise accessibility concerns with those vendors where applicable.

  • PDF and document files. Any documents linked from our websites may not be fully accessible. We will review linked documents and provide accessible alternatives upon request.

This list reflects our current known issues and will be updated as we complete our audit and remediate identified barriers.

6  —  Measures we are taking

KBI is taking the following steps to improve and maintain the accessibility of our websites:

  • Accessibility audit. Conducting a formal audit of all three KBI websites against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, using both automated scanning tools and manual testing with assistive technologies.

  • Remediation plan. Developing a prioritized remediation plan based on audit findings, with a focus first on barriers that prevent access to core content and contact functionality.

  • Wix accessibility tools. Utilizing Wix's built-in accessibility features, including the Wix Accessibility Wizard, to identify and address common issues such as missing alt text, low contrast, and keyboard navigation gaps.

  • Ongoing monitoring. Incorporating accessibility checks into our website update and maintenance process so that new content added to the sites does not introduce new barriers.

  • Staff awareness. Ensuring that staff responsible for managing website content are aware of basic accessibility requirements when adding or updating content.

  • User feedback. Using accessibility feedback submitted by users (see Section 8) to identify and prioritize issues that automated tools may not detect.

7  —  Compatibility with assistive technologies

Our websites are intended to be compatible with the following assistive technologies and browsing configurations:

  • Screen readers, including NVDA and JAWS on Windows, and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS

  • Keyboard-only navigation (no mouse required)

  • Browser zoom and text resizing up to 200% without loss of content or functionality

  • High-contrast display modes on Windows and macOS

  • Voice control software such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking

Our websites are designed to function on current versions of major browsers including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge. As noted in Section 4, we are actively working to improve conformance and compatibility. If you experience difficulty using our websites with a specific assistive technology, please let us know.

8  —  Feedback and contact

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our websites. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, experience difficulty accessing any content, or need information provided in an alternative format, please contact us. We aim to respond to all accessibility feedback within 5 business days and to resolve identified barriers as quickly as practicable.

When contacting us, it is helpful to include:

  • The URL of the page where you encountered the barrier

We strongly prefer to resolve any accessibility issue directly and promptly before any formal proceeding becomes necessary.

10  —  Changes to this statement

We will update this Accessibility Statement periodically to reflect the current status of our accessibility efforts, including as we complete our audit, remediate identified issues, and make improvements to our websites. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

We intend to review and update this statement at least annually, or sooner if significant changes are made to our websites or if new accessibility issues are identified.
