This Privacy Policy applies to all websites and digital properties operated by Kinsbursky Bros. Supply, Inc. d/b/a KBI Recycling ("KBI," "we," "us," or "our"), a California corporation headquartered at 125 E. Commercial Street, Anaheim, CA 92801, including:

• www.kbirecycling.com — our main corporate website

• batteries.kbirecycling.com — our battery recycling services website

• cats.kbirecycling.com — our catalytic converter recycling website, including the KBI CatApp access request portal

This policy also extends to the KBI Cat App mobile application (available on iOS and Android), which is a gated tool accessible only to approved KBI customers, to the extent it collects personal information through the access request process described on cats.kbirecycling.com.

This policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information from visitors to our websites and users of our digital properties, including prospective and current business customers, vendors, licensed recyclers, and other individuals who interact with us online. It applies to personal information we collect through these digital channels; it does not govern personal information collected in the context of employment or solely through offline interactions.

 

By using any of the websites or digital properties listed above, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use these websites or submit information through them.

Information you provide directly

We collect personal information when you submit forms across our websites. The specific fields vary by form:

 

• Main site contact form (www.kbirecycling.com): First and last name, email address, phone number, subject, and message content.

• Battery recycling contact form (batteries.kbirecycling.com): First and last name, email address, phone number, and message content.

• Catalytic converter contact form (cats.kbirecycling.com): First and last name, email address, phone number, licensed business status (yes/no), and message content.

• KBI CatApp access request form (https://www.kbirecycling.com/kbi-cat-app): First and last name, email address, phone number, and licensed business status (yes/no). This form is used to verify eligibility and grant access to the KBI CatApp mobile application, which is restricted to approved KBI customers.

We do not request or knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, government ID numbers, or health information through any of our websites or the Cat App access request process.

Information collected automatically

 

When you visit any of our websites, certain information is collected automatically by our website platform (Wix) and any analytics or advertising tools we have enabled. This may include:

• IP address and approximate geographic location derived from it

• Browser type and version

• Operating system

• Pages visited, time spent on pages, and referring URLs

• Responding to inquiries. To respond to messages submitted through our contact forms on any of our websites and to follow up as needed in connection with potential or existing business relationships.

• Cat App access verification. To review and process requests for access to the KBI Cat App mobile application, verify that applicants are licensed businesses, and manage approved customer access.

• Operating and improving our websites. To understand how visitors use our sites, diagnose technical issues, and improve content, layout, and functionality across all three web properties.

• Analytics. To analyze aggregate traffic patterns and user behavior using tools such as Wix Analytics and, if enabled, Google Analytics.

• Security. To protect the integrity of our websites, detect fraud, and prevent unauthorized access — including unauthorized attempts to access the gated KBI Cat App.

• Legal compliance. To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal process, or governmental requests, including laws governing the recycling and purchase of catalytic converters and batteries.

• Business communications. If you are an existing or prospective business contact, we may send relevant service information or follow-up communications. You may opt out at any time.

 

We do not use personal information collected through our websites for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on individuals.

4  —  How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

 

Service providers

 

We share personal information with vendors and service providers that perform services on our behalf, including:

• Wix.com Ltd. — our website hosting and platform provider, which processes data in accordance with its own privacy policy and data processing agreement.

• Google LLC — if Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager is enabled on our site, Google may receive usage data subject to your consent choices.

• Email and communication tools — any platform used to receive or manage contact form submissions.

• Located Store Locator Map — a Wix app used to display our facility locations on an interactive, searchable map across our websites. Located may collect visitor location data (with your permission) to show nearby locations and may process location search queries. Located operates subject to its own privacy policy.

 

Legal requirements

 

We may disclose personal information if required to do so by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of KBI, our customers, or the public.

 

Business transfers
 

In the event of a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or other business transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via prominent notice on our website if such a transfer materially changes how your information is used.

Our websites use cookies and similar technologies. A cookie is a small text file placed on your device that helps the site function and allows us to understand how visitors use the site. The following applies to all three KBI websites: www.kbirecycling.com, batteries.kbirecycling.com, and cats.kbirecycling.com.

Do Not Track

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law:

• Contact form submissions: Retained for a minimum of one (1) year from the date of submission. After that period, we may delete contact form data at our discretion, taking into account the status of any ongoing business relationship and applicable legal obligations.

• Analytics data: Typically retained by third-party analytics providers according to their own retention schedules (e.g., Google Analytics retains data for 14 months by default; this can be configured).

• Cookie consent logs: Retained for a minimum of one (1) year as required to demonstrate compliance. We may retain consent records longer at our discretion where ongoing compliance documentation is warranted.

When personal information is no longer needed, we delete it or render it non-identifiable.

We implement reasonable and appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Our website is served over HTTPS, and our platform provider (Wix) maintains its own security certifications and controls.

8  —  Your California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), grants California residents the following rights with respect to their personal information. These rights apply to personal information we have collected about you in the 12 months preceding your request.

 

• Right to know - You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the business purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we have shared it.

• Right to delete - You may request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions (e.g., information needed to complete a transaction or comply with a legal obligation).

• Right to correct - You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.

• Right to opt out of sale / sharing - We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If this practice changes, we will update this policy and provide a clear opt-out mechanism.

• Right to limit use of sensitive information - We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CPRA through this website. If we do so in the future, you will have the right to limit its use.

• Right to non-discrimination - We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights. We will not deny you services, charge different prices, or provide a lesser quality of service.

We will verify your identity before processing your request. We will respond within 45 days of receipt. We may extend this period by an additional 45 days when reasonably necessary, with prior notice.

You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We may require written proof of authorization and verification of your identity directly before processing a request submitted by an agent.

Categories of personal information collected in the last 12 months

 

For purposes of the CCPA, in the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information:

• Identifiers (name, email address, phone number, IP address)

• Internet or other electronic network activity information (browsing behavior on our sites, pages visited)

• Geolocation data (approximate location derived from IP address)

• Commercial information (licensed business status, as collected through the catalytic converter contact form and Cat App access request form on cats.kbirecycling.com)

We have not sold or shared any of these categories with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising in the past 12 months.

9  —  California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA)

In accordance with CalOPPA, we agree to the following:

• This Privacy Policy is posted on all three of our websites (www.kbirecycling.com, batteries.kbirecycling.com, and cats.kbirecycling.com) and is accessible from the homepage and from every page where personal information may be collected.

• We will notify users of material changes to this policy by updating the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, by posting a prominent notice on our websites.

• Users may update personal information submitted through any of our contact forms by contacting us at privacy@kbirecycling.com.

10  —  California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA)

The California Invasion of Privacy Act (Cal. Penal Code §§ 630 et seq.) requires all parties to a communication to consent before the communication is intercepted or recorded. To the extent CIPA applies to our websites' use of tracking technologies:

• We obtain your explicit, prior consent before activating any third-party tracking scripts, pixels, or session-recording tools on any of our websites. Non-essential tracking tools are blocked until you affirmatively opt in via our cookie consent banner, which appears on www.kbirecycling.com, batteries.kbirecycling.com, and cats.kbirecycling.com.

• We do not use session replay software, keystroke logging, or real-time chat interception tools without your prior consent.

• Contact form submissions across all three websites are transmitted to KBI and our website platform (Wix) for the purpose of responding to your inquiry. By submitting any contact form, you consent to the transmission and storage of your message for that purpose.

• Cat App access request form submissions on cats.kbirecycling.com are transmitted to KBI for the purpose of reviewing and processing your app access request. By submitting that form, you consent to the transmission and storage of your information for that purpose.

• Any telephone communications with KBI may be recorded for quality assurance purposes. You will be notified at the start of any such call.

This website is intended for use by businesses and adults in a commercial context. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 16. Our websites may contain links to third-party websites, including industry association pages such as IPMI (ipmi.org) and ARA (a-r-a.org), as well as app store links to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for the KBI Cat App. This Privacy Policy applies to www.kbirecycling.com, batteries.kbirecycling.com, and cats.kbirecycling.com. It does not apply to third-party websites or platforms, including the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or any other external site linked from our pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
